As a member of #TeamCardiff, she’s fundraising for researchers here on campus, who are improving outcomes for people living with some of the most common cancers.

In October, alumna Isabel Irvine (BSc 2024) will take on the Cardiff Half Marathon in support of her mum, who was diagnosed with cancer last year. To date, she’s raised an incredible £1,100 for Cardiff University cancer research in the run-up to the race.

Pancreatic cancer currently has a 10-year survival rate of just 5%. As the disease can be difficult to detect until its late stages, intervention often comes too late for many patients. Josh D'Ambrogio (Biosciences 2021-) has been studying pancreatic cancer in its early development to open up further avenues for early detection and more effective treatment strategies.
