Don’t Fear the Robot: Future Proofing Your Career in the AI Era – Bossing It
18 June 2026
Curious about what the future of work holds? As technology evolves, so do the opportunities to grow and succeed. From building in-demand skills to staying adaptable, we asked some of our brilliant alumni network to share their top tips for future-proofing your career.

Yaman Sood (MSc 2022)
After graduating from Cardiff University with an MSc in Advanced Computer Science, Yaman has built his career at the intersection of finance and technology. Currently managing finance systems for Lloyds Wealth, he works on transforming finance systems and processes.
Get curious, not fearful
Don’t think of AI as a replacement, think of it as a capability multiplier. I’ve seen this first-hand in my current role as finance systems manager, where AI and automation can help rethink manual processes like invoice processing, reporting and data checks. In my experience AI only really adds value when paired with good business judgement. Get curious, not fearful. Learn enough to question AI, guide it and use it responsibly as that’s where you’ll see real career advantage come to life.
Dimana Markova (BA 2017)

Dimana Markova is a content marketing consultant and founder of Down To Earth Marketing, helping companies turn complex ideas into clear, engaging content. With over seven years of experience across strategy and execution, she specialises in thought leadership, content marketing, SEO, and brand messaging that connects with real audiences and drives growth.
Lean into AI to sharpen your output, but double down on the human skills
I work in content marketing, where my job is to use words to bridge the gap between a business and its audience. AI can help me choose some of those words, but it can’t replace the context behind them.
Doing this well requires a strong understanding of business needs, the ability to run effective stakeholder interviews, and the project management to bring everything together.
My advice is lean into AI to sharpen your output, but double down on the human skills. Stay curious, be empathetic to your reader, and write with authenticity – because that’s what makes people actually want to read what you create.

Tyrone Stewart (MSc 2022)
Tyrone Stewart is a Product Manager at Nisien AI, where he works on AI-driven products focused on online harms, misinformation, and digital risk intelligence. Since graduating, he has worked across AI, cybersecurity, and startup innovation, helping develop products spanning social media intelligence, fraud detection, and enterprise SaaS platforms. Alongside his product work, Tyrone has supported early-stage founders through mentoring and startup development initiatives within the Welsh tech ecosystem.
Combine adaptability, communication, and technical curiosity with strong human relationships
Your network and ability to work with people will become even more valuable, not less! AI can automate tasks, but it can’t replace trust, relationships, or genuinely understanding people’s problems.
A lot of the opportunities I’ve had since leaving Cardiff University have come through conversations, communities, and staying connected to people across tech, business, and academia. Hence where I am now at Nisien. Speak to lecturers, attend events, message alumni, and stay curious about what others are building.
The people who will thrive alongside AI are those who combine adaptability, communication, and technical curiosity with strong human relationships.
