Using Padlet to help Learning Communities

During the autumn term, we began working with our Academic Study Skills team, primarily with Joanne Williams, in order to develop a collaborative learning environment on the Student Intranet. This involved us using a software called ‘Padlet,’ which we have used to develop learning environments for specific topics such as: essay writing and time management. We have used these Padlets in order to share useful study resources, create ‘top tips’ videos as well as formulating a collaborative environment for students to ask and answer questions and share their own tips and resources on various academic topics. This term we have also taken part in enhancing the presence of the Academic Study Skills department across the university by working at events such as the Student Union’s Wellbeing Week and Revision Aid.

So far, we have created two Padlets on Time Management and Essay Writing that include our student perspective, videos summarizing our advice and useful resources. Once shared with students, anyone will be able to add their top tips and anonymous questions to be answered by one of us or a staff member. Here is a preview of our work:

This isn’t the final version of the project, as things still need to be added and discussed.
