How to find yourself in our graduation archive videos

7 August 2024

Do you remember how you felt as you were about the cross the stage at St David’s Hall? Were you nervous, searching for your family in the crowd, or ready to bask in the glory of hearing your name called! Even though years have passed, you can relive the moment by finding yourself in our Graduation archives. Watch back graduation archives for 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

More recent Graduation ceremonies can be found on our website.

Here are our top tips to find yourself or your mates:

  • You’ll find a full list of which Schools a ceremony includes in the Youtube video description.
  • Ceremonies are around an hour and a half long, with names starting to be read around 15 – 20 minutes after the start.
  • Ceremonies will feature the Schools in the order listed in the description.
  • Undergraduate degrees for each School are awarded first. They are split by course, with graduates called alphabetically within their course. Once all the undergraduate degrees are called, master’s degrees are next, again split by course, then alphabetically. Finally, the PhDs for all Schools and subjects are called. You might need to jump around to find your course.
  • Top tip – switch on the Youtube auto subtitles, click ‘more’ on the video description and select ‘Show transcript’. Using the search function (CTRL + f on your keyboard) search your first or middle name. You can also try your surname but please note that auto subtitles may not spell it correctly.
  • Once you’ve found yourself, use the ‘Share’ button to send to your friends and family. Tick the ‘Start at’ box to get a link to exactly your special moment.
  • If you’re sharing on social media, don’t forget to tag @CardiffAlumni on X, Facebook or Cardiff University on LinkedIn.
  • Spread the love and let your Cardiff University classmates know. If they don’t receive our alumni e-newsletter already, they can sign up here.
