Welcome back to Fellowships
23 September 2022Blog post by Nathan Roberts, Education Fellowships Programmes Manager
The start of a new academic year
September is something of a landmark month for the Education Fellowship Programmes, the Cardiff Learning and Teaching Academy’s accredited learning and teaching development programmes.
On the one hand, many of our early participants have reached the culmination of their learning journey with us and submitted their final portfolios. In fact, well over 100 portfolios were submitted in early September across our Associate Fellow, Fellow, and Senior Fellowship provision.
The collective effort and engagement of all those on the programmes has been incredible, with 70 participants already successful in previous award panels, there is real momentum growing.
September and October means welcoming new participants to our programmes. Multiple new cohorts will be joining us across all our provision in the coming weeks.
For our team, the most gratifying part of our work is hearing the stories of colleagues whose confidence, expertise and ambition has been shaped by their time with us on the Education Fellowship Programmes, and we’ll be sharing their perspectives with you over the year ahead.
Drop-in session
We are always available to discuss how the Education Fellowship Programmes might help you with the development of your own teaching practice. We hold an online drop-in on Zoom every Wednesday between 12.30 – 13.30 and although there is fierce demand for places, we have intakes scheduled across the year.
We have already run a session of our intensive Launchpad workshop, designed to get those new to teaching up-and-running in a short space of time, and the Associate Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow pathways are ready to go.
Celebrating excellence
Our core teaching team of education specialists has grown and will continue to evolve in the coming months. From the outset, the idea behind the Fellowship Programmes was that they would be owned by all our academic Schools and Professional Services involved in supporting learning.
As a result, a large extended team of mentors, assessors and critical friends has emerged from across the university to support our participants.
Our huge thanks goes out to them as we continue to scale up and celebrate the achievements of our excellent teachers!
