Meet Phillip Harris, our Student Events Coordinator

I’m Phillip Harris and I started working in the university 16.5 years ago, initially working part-time in a café whilst I was studying. I then moved into an events role arranging international academic conferences, before joining the Learning and Teaching Academy in 2022 as a Student Events Coordinator in the Student Engagement team.
What does your role involve and how long have you been in the role?
My role was introduced in 2022 and it involves developing and implementing a series of events that focus on enhancing the student experience, building communities, and celebrating learning and teaching excellence.
I am also developing CPD programme sessions and supporting materials to assist colleagues whose role involves facilitating student events.
What projects/tasks are you currently working on within your role?
I’m currently working on a portfolio of events to run throughout the academic year, concentrating on high-impact student partner events including a Student Festival of Learning and Student Partner Celebration Event.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I enjoy walking, watching football and binge-watching TV.
