Student Champion Poster Exhibition 2023
4 May 2023Charis Francis, Student Engagement Officer gives us an insight on how this year’s Student Champion Poster Exhibition went.
On 19 April, for the first time since the scheme began in October 2018, the annual Student Champion Poster Exhibition was held in person.
While previous virtual Poster Exhibitions have been brilliant, the transition to bringing the event into a physical space was incredible, and a key reminder of how many individuals (both staff and students) are involved in the scheme and continuously making Student Voice enhancements across Cardiff University.
Held in the Centre for Student Life, attendees made their way to the 4th floor where they were met with 17 posters, all encapsulating different projects and tasks the Student Champions have taken part in during this academic year.
Posters ranged from National Student Survey promotion to digital education projects such as Blackboard Ultra Courses to how the School of English, Communication and Philosophy resource bank has been improved. The room was buzzing with staff from all over the university, as the exhibition was introduced by Professor and Academic Lead for Student Voice, Luke Sloan, and Director of the Learning and Teaching Academy, Helen Spittle.
After refreshments and networking, staff and students made their way to their chosen breakout rooms, where four talks took place hosted by External Project Owners (EPOs) in collaboration with our Student Champions:
- Marianna Majzonova, Emily Rymer, and Deepika Khali: “Ultra Project – Digital Leaning Support Resource Journey”
- Isaac Myers, Hannah Doe, and Ellie Hosford: “Unboxing Inboxes: how can we get students to read their emails?!”
- Michael Hackman, Hannah Shaw, and Emyr Kreishan: “Empowering Students to Enhance their Learning Community of Inquiry Toolkit”
- Llinos Carpenter, Hannah Doe, and Riya Majithia: “Students shaping your future!”
Each of these sessions provided incredible insight into the Student Champion scheme and the wider legacy these students are leaving for prospective ones.
The Student Champions have worked so hard this year, to enhance processes, user-test, promote surveys to raise awareness of feedback mechanisms, analyse data and so much more. It’s great to have seen this highlighted at such a busy event.
