Save time and stress using Learning Central

I like to embed videos into Ultra documents and include a brief introduction before explaining the video’s content, duration, and any relevant materials or next steps. This approach looks great, provides clarity for students, and keeps everything organised in one easy-to-find place.

But here is the downside – this does take time to create and time to maintain (for content that can be reused another year). Finding and re-embedding these videos can be time-consuming, difficult and feel like yet another admin burden.

My Trick

I use a consistent naming convention for all documents containing videos, making them easy to locate. For example, this year, I name them “Topic X, Lesson X, Video.” When it’s time to update them next year, I simply use the search function to find these documents, re-embed the videos, and then rename them using a new convention, such as “Topic X, Lesson X, Recording.”

This system allows me to quickly identify which documents contain outdated videos, track which ones have been updated, and ensure that titles remain clear and accessible for students—including those using screen readers.

Whilst I can’t tell you exactly how much time this saved at rollover, I promise it was a time saver. More importantly, it made the process seem easier and less stressful.
