Education Fellowship Programmes Celebration Event
1 August 2025
The Education Fellowship Programmes provide an opportunity for colleagues to both develop their professional practice and gain recognition for their learning and teaching activities.
Over 100 academic and professional services staff gathered on Thursday 10 July to celebrate their achievement of an education Fellowship.
In the lively, summer evening event, Fellowship participants and other award winners shared lightning talks on their own professional journeys, sources of inspiration and education philosophies. 32 colleagues were awarded an Associate Fellowship, 45 a Fellowship and 22 a Senior Fellowship.
The event was also notable for the presentation of National Teaching Fellow Daniel Bickerton (MUSIC) and those who had been awarded Principal Fellowship. In 2024-25, Diana De (HCARE), Liz Forty (MEDIC), Nigel Francis (BIOSI), Stephen Rutherford (BIOSI) and Helen Williams (Dean for Student Success) gained Principal Fellowship on the basis of their sustained record of effectiveness in strategic leadership of high-quality learning: the highest number of Principal Fellowships ever awarded to Cardiff University staff.
Taking time to celebrate the hard-won achievements of colleagues who have gained their Fellowships, at all levels, has been a highlight for the university community and an aspect of provision that has led to the Fellowship Programmes identified as sector-leading.
