Teachers use Universe in a Box to find out how a lunar eclipse happens.
The first Universe in the Classroom teacher training event of the summer term took place at Cardiff School of Physics and Astronomy yesterday, on Tuesday 6th May.
The 4-hour session offered eight welsh primary school teachers an opportunity to re-awaken the scientist inside, as they practised a number of hands-on astronomy activities from Universe in a Box. After the training workshop, each teacher took a number of free science education resources, including the Universe in a Box toolkit, back to their schools for use with their curious young students.
The teachers were invited from schools across the southern coast of Wales, from Swansea in the west to Newport in the east, while others journeyed from the Rhondda Valley to the north of Cardiff. Universe in the Classroom is aiming to provide high-quality science education resources to primary schools from all corners of the country and inspire the country’s young students to develop a curious mind and a passion for learning.
There might not be a ‘dark side of the Moon’, but these primary school teachers find its “funny” side.
