On Wednesday 2nd April, Universe in the Classroom’s Stellar Role Models (STARS) hosted their first workshop at Rumney Primary School in Cardiff.
STARS are science students from Cardiff University who have been trained in communication and familiar with the Universe in the Classroom. Thei primary role in the project is to provide diverse science role models for primary school students, to demonstrate to the children – at their impressionable age – that anyone can be a scientist.
The STARS workshop was held for year 6 students on the topic of Stars and Constellations. Activities included an introduction to stars, how to read and make a planisphere, how to find the North Star and constellations around the world.
