Last week I visited Ashby School in Leicestershire, to deliver a workshop to local teachers for as part of the Inspiring Science Education programme.
The half-day workshop took place in the school’s “3D immersive hub”, which has 360 degree projection all around the room – an impressive facility. It allowed us to put Stellarium, a freely available piece of planetarium software, all around the room. The other interactive displays also came in handy, providing an exciting and interesting way to use the resources.
The teachers, from four different local schools, used Star in a Box, Chromoscope, Multiwavelength Universe, and Heavens’ Kitchen. A lot to pack in to a three hour session, but enjoyable for all involved – we hope to repeat it in other regions around the UK.
You can see a few more photos on Ashby School’s website.
