Cardiff University supports Open Access through Knowledge Unlatched

18 January 2018

Cardiff University has joined Libraries worldwide in pledging support to Knowledge Unlatched (KU). Launched in 2012, Knowledge Unlatched has formalised the “global library consortium” model for supporting Open Access books and journals. Focusing on the humanities and social sciences, the KU platform provides Libraries with a central place to support Open Access initiatives by pledging a funding contribution. Currently 450 Libraries and 70 publishers are participating.

Cardiff University has pledged support to the “KU Select” 2017 journal collection of 21 titles in the humanities and social sciences. The pledge will support the pure Gold Open Access publication of these journals. As an added benefit, Cardiff University authors can publish their research articles in these journals without any Open Access charges for the next three years. The journals cover a wide range of humanities disciplines including anthropology, economics, history, linguistics, philosophy, sociology theology and religion. You can find the list of the titles on the Knowledge Unlatched website.
