Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?

The School of Modern Languages at Cardiff University will be hosting a student-led EU Referendum Debate.

When: Friday 22 April 2016 from 17:00 to 20:00

Where: Lecture Theatre 1.19, Postgraduate Teaching Centre, Colum Drive, Cardiff CF10 3EU.

This referendum has been billed as the biggest political decision of a generation. However, many people feel left in the dark about the arguments and ideas from each side of the issue. Our debate will be the perfect opportunity for students and staff to hear and weigh up the arguments before making a decision. Being the School of Modern Languages, this issue is particularly relevant to us. What will happen to Erasmus? Will I be able to live/work/study abroad easily? What about integration? Is the real risk staying in?

The debate will be neutrally chaired by Dr Nick Parsons. Dr Parsons is a lecturer in French Studies and Deputy Head of the School of Modern Languages. He has researched European Politics and Social Dialogue. The Remain and Leave sides of the debate will be represented by one local politician and one student from within the School of Modern Languages.

The event will be followed by a wine reception.

The event is free of charge and open to all Cardiff University staff and students. Please reserve a ticket for the event and bring a printed copy along on the day.
