13 May 2019

We held our 12th annual quiz on Thursday 9 May to mark Europe Day, first established by the Council of Europe in 1949. Students, academics and the general public came together to answer questions on Europe in all its different dimensions – from sports and history to politics, from cuisine and music to geography.

Cardiff EDC Manager Frederico Rocha was the question master, assisted by Ceri Thomas and full-time intern Jana-Sofie Schmitz. There were four rounds of questions on geography, people and culture, sports and cuisine, and European politics. The picture round asked teams to name European countries represented by their national symbols (coat of arms, national animal, etc.).

After a close-fought contest the winning team was announced – Tom Prosser, Sarah Hurlow, Barry Hogan and Phil McCarthy, all from Cardiff Business School. They were each presented with a goody bag and a bottle of wine.
