With the success of last years A/S Level summer workshops we are once again hosting a 3 day non-residential workshop for AS level students interested in continuing on to Physics degrees.
Taking place in Cardiff University School of Physics and Astronomy the workshops will run 19-21 June, including activities and lectures provided by Cardiff University staff and students.
The event will run 10:00 – 16:30, with refreshments from 09:30. A more detailed programme will be released closer to the time
Workshops will be targeted at A/S (year 12) students and provide an insight into Physics beyond A-level, including:
- Gravitational Waves: detector technology and data analysis
- Astronomy: Explore the properties of stars and how to design a space telescope
- Lasers: Build a laser interferometer and measure its properties
Talk topics will be based on the groundbreaking research done here in Cardiff. For a list of the topics and the workshops being held (subject to change) the time table is available here.
Participants must be 16 or over and can apply using the form below. You can also download a poster to promote this at school.
The deadline for applications is May 31st, in the case of over subscription places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
