Congratulations to the winners of our Open Access Week competition

22 November 2017

To celebrate Open Access Week in October, we invited our students and staff to enter a prize competition for a chance to win one of two Amazon Gift vouchers. We asked entrants to describe the benefits that Open Access can bring by finishing the sentence “Open Access in order to ……”

The winners below have encapsulated the spirit of Open Access in their answers. Prizes were presented by Sonja Haerkoenen, Scholarly Publications Manager, to Dr Aimee Grant (left), Research Associate in the School of Medicine and Centre for Trials Research, who “use[s] Open Access publications in order to reach health professionals outside academia”, and Emanuela Piga (right), PhD Student in the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences, who makes use of “Open Access in order to access a lot more articles and books for my PhD, especially some that are more difficult to access than others”.
