Dear student,

wrote to you at the end of last month to let you know that the University and College Union (UCU) had balloted in favour of industrial action. The UCU has now confirmed that action short of strike will commence on Wednesday 23 November. Full strike dates have been confirmed as Thursday 24, Friday 25 and Wednesday 30 November 2022.

I appreciate that this news may cause you concern, and over the coming weeks you will receive regular updates from both myself and your academic school about everything we are doing to minimise the impact of this industrial action on your learning and support you.

The industrial action section on the student intranet has also been updated, and has lots of information including:

  • What is industrial action?
  • Advice and support
  • Teaching and learning
  • Assessment and feedback
  • Complaints process
  • Information for postgraduate research students

If you need help and support, please do get in touch with Student Connect or visit us in the Centre for Student Life. We have specialist teams who can help.

Best wishes,

Claire Morgan
