  • It was noted that the first meeting of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board had been held.
  • It was noted that around 160 staff were attending today’s Technicians’ Conference at which the Technicians’ commitment and action plan were being discussed.
  • It was noted that of the 12 CDT bids submitted, seven had been selected for the next stage.
  • It was noted that the launch of the University-supported Nextbike Cardiff scheme had taken place with over 4,000 miles already registered.
  • Professor Baxter noted that he had held a productive meeting with senior representatives from the Cardiff and Vale UHB with a focus on an action plan to develop a strategic partnership.
  • UEB received and noted the analysis of HEFCW’s funding allocations for 2018/19.
  • UEB received and noted the monthly finance report.
  • UEB received and noted the draft terms of reference and membership of the new University Financial Performance Group, the first meeting of the group will take place following today’s UEB.
  • UEB received the first update of the University Investment Plan, this paper will be updated every quarter.
  • UEB received and noted the strategic estates update which will now be presented to Policy and Resources Committee for note.
  • UEB received and endorsed the University’s updated Trans Policy. This policy will now be presented to the Governance Committee for consideration.
  • UEB received a paper outlining the rationale for signing up to the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), the implications and a proposed course of action. The proposal was endorsed and will go to Senate for consideration.
  • UEB received and approved the tuition fee levels for 2019/20, this paper will now be presented to Policy and Resources Committee for note.
  • UEB received an update on Structural Funds and approved the acceptance of three revenue awards.
  • UEB received and approved the draft response to the Children, Young People and Education Committee’s inquiry on the impact of Brexit on Higher and Further Education.
  • UEB received and noted the final Fee and Access Plan 2019-20.
  • UEB received and noted its six monthly update from Safety and Staff Wellbeing.
  • UEB received and noted the first of the new six monthly update on Environmental Sustainability.
  • UEB received and noted a briefing on the Prime Minister’s recent speech on the Industrial Strategy.
  • UEB received and noted a briefing on the Welsh Spring Party Conferences.
