Cardiff University’s Open Access Publications Policy is now available online

26 May 2015

The University’s Open Access Publications Policy is now available online in English and Welsh.

The policy applies to all research-active staff and research students of the University.

To summarise the policy, the main requirement is that all Cardiff authors store the details of their research publications on ORCA, the institutional repository. The most important point is that all authors must use ORCA to store the full text of all peer-reviewed research articles that may be submitted to the next REF, within 3 months of the acceptance date. (This is the HEFCE policy for the next Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission).

The policy also recommends that all researchers register for an ORCID identifier, as a unique ID that can follow you through your academic career. More information about ORCID is available on the ORCID website.

If you have any queries about these elements, or any other parts of the policy, please contact the Open Access Support Team who will endeavour to help, or to find someone who can.
