Dear student,

You may already be aware that the University and College Union have confirmed 18 days of industrial action over the next few months. I fully recognise this news may be worrying for you, and particularly difficult for those students who already experienced disruption during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now the strike days are confirmed, our focus is to ensure their impact on your education and student experience is as minimal as possible. As with past industrial action, we will not know who is striking until the day of a strike. As such, I will continue to write to you on a regular basis throughout, as will your school.

In the meantime, the industrial action section on the student intranet has information including:

  • what is industrial action?
  • how you can access advice and support
  • how it may affect your teaching and learning
  • guidance on the complaints process

If you need help and support please do get in touch with Student Connect or visit us in the Centre for Student Life. We have specialist teams who can help.

Best wishes,

Claire Morgan
