HRH, the Princess Royal, visits to celebrate 50 years of occupational therapy

29 January 2015

I was delighted to be part of events today marking 50 years of Occupational Therapy (OT) at Cardiff University.  The one-day conference explored how OT education has evolved, as well as the key contribution that Cardiff’s OT alumni have made to the development of the clinical evidence-base.  It was wonderful to join with Princess Anne in her capacity as Patron of the College of Occupational Therapists, and with students and staff past and present, to recognise and reflect upon the vital contribution that occupational therapists play to health and well-being.  I was particularly pleased to see so many former students there and to hear their stories. Some have gone on to hold positions of influence within the profession; all retain a strong commitment to delivering excellence in patient care.  This was one of the strongest events in terms of collaboration with Alumni that I have ever attended – their loyalty to Cardiff and their profession was really impressive.
