Europe Day Quiz 2023

After a hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Europe Da y Quiz returned for its 13th edition on Tuesday, 9 May. The event also celebrated the launch of the European Information Hub (EIH). Students, staff, academics, and members of the public joined us to test their knowledge of all things Europe.

EIH Manager Frederico Rocha and special collections assistant Erika Smits hosted the well-attended event in Bute Building’s newly renovated Exhibition Room. The quizzers were asked a variety of questions on topics of geography, politics, people and culture, sports and cuisine, and politics. The picture round asked teams to identify images of famous European musicians and give their nationalities.

Quiz victory went to a team led by reigning quiz champion Barry Hogan, who won the quiz by a narrow margin of 1 point.  Members of the winning team received a goody bag containing books on European topics.
