In 2022 we will be re-launching our TWiSTEM (Trevithick Women in STEM) networking group as DiSTEM (Diversity in STEM) to reflect that we want to make the group more inclusive and to expand the number of STEM Schools in the University who are part of it. We have been running more general sessions that are about diversity in general for some time, not just gender, so this change aims to reflect that desire to look at all diversity and inclusion issues, whilst still providing a platform for inspiring speakers and career stories.

We would like to have a brand new logo to reflect our new identity and are hoping someone out there could help us. There is a prize of a graphics tablet to help further develop your skills!

It’s a very open brief – we’re looking for something bold and eye-catching which should incorporate the DiSTEM letters into the design or as a connected piece of text underneath. It should reflect our values of inclusiveness, inspiring stories and openness, and should work in both original colour and monotone versions (black on white, or white on black). The Welsh abbreviation for the group will be AySTEM – so if the logo idea can incorporate both names, or work with either that would be ideal.

Entries should be submitted to distem@cardiff.ac.uk

We have extended the deadline as we wanted to attract more diverse entries and give people a bit more time – so our new deadline is Friday 18th Feb at 5pm. The winner will be announced in March 2022.

The competition is open to any staff or students of Cardiff University – please use your Cardiff email address when submitting your entries so we can verify your affiliation.
