Communicative Practices within the UK asylum process

Katy Brickley and Judith Reynolds

In this informal joint seminar, ESRC Post-Doctoral Fellows Katy Brickley and Judith Reynolds, who are both new Research Associates within the Centre for Language and Communication Research, introduce their research interests and proposed work. After giving a brief overview of the goals of the ESRC Post-Doctoral Fellowship Scheme, Katy and Judith will talk about their respective professional and academic backgrounds and research interests within the fields of institutional, professional and intercultural communication. They will then introduce their individual doctoral research projects, focused on legal advice communication in asylum and family reunion (Judith) and communication within UK repatriation programmes (Katy) respectively, and outline their plans for the Fellowship. Questions, ideas, and discussions will be invited at the end of the session.
