{"id":504,"date":"2022-07-11T08:55:04","date_gmt":"2022-07-11T08:55:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/wolfsonyoungpeople\/?p=504"},"modified":"2022-07-13T08:56:06","modified_gmt":"2022-07-13T08:56:06","slug":"successful-first-term-for-new-public-lecture-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/wolfsonyoungpeople\/successful-first-term-for-new-public-lecture-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Successful first term for new public lecture series"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"offset-md-3 col-md-6\">\n<div id=\"content_container_2635270\">\n<h2>The Wolfson Centre for Young People\u2019s Mental Health\u2019s new public lecture series has been well received in its first term.<\/h2>\n<p>The interdisciplinary research centre, focused on understanding and improving the mental health of young people, has held the first four virtual lectures in the monthly series, featuring a range of experts working in the UK and around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Topics covered so far in the series have included support resources for parents and families in emergencies, the impact of stressors, reinforcement learning and depression, implementing mental health interventions for young people in low-resource contexts and the mental health of children adopted from care.<\/p>\n<p>The series is organised by Dr Lucy Riglin and Dr Yulia Shenderovich, who co-lead the Wolfson Centre\u2019s research methods and open science practices workstream.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Lucy Riglin said: \u201cWe have been really pleased with the initial response to the Wolfson Centre Lectures. Over the past four months, we have been joined online by a fantastic array of speakers from a range of disciplines, including experts from the Universities of Oxford and Sussex, University College London and here at Cardiff University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA special thanks to Professor Lucie Cluver, Professor Glyn Lewis, Dr Daniel Michelson and Professor Katherine Shelton for their talks and starting off the series so well.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-505 media-505\" class=\"image align-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/wolfsonyoungpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/586\/2022\/07\/a-woman-wearing-green-speaks-in-a-zoom-meeting.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Dr Yulia Shenderovich added: \u201cHolding the lectures online has enabled the series to already reach an international audience with over 400 people registering for the series so far.
