Dear student,

As we reach the end of this academic year, I wanted to wish you all the best before the summer break.

I know many of you will be returning home over the coming weeks, but if you are staying in Cardiff remember some of our buildings and services – including libraries, catering and Student Connect – may open at different times. There are still events and activities to get involved in and ways to access wellbeing support if you need it.

If you are changing accommodation or moving away, follow our tips on moving out, remember to return your library books and wherever you are, always take care to protect yourself and your belongings.

Getting your results

You’ve all put in a lot of hard work over the exam and assessment period and I’m sure you are keen to receive your results. These will be available shortly via your Academic Record on SIMS.

To those of you who will be returning next year – enjoy your summer! Take the time to rest, recharge, and reflect on all that you have accomplished. I look forward to seeing you back on campus in September.

Graduation #CardiffGrad2024

Congratulations to all our graduates! I look forward to celebrating with you in July. If you haven’t done so already, you need to register and make your bookings by 12:00 on Tuesday 18 June. As you step into the next chapter, remember our Graduate Futures support offers access to resources, support and events designed to help you understand your options, achieve your potential and succeed in securing a job, further study or any other opportunities you wish to pursue.

June is Pride Month and Refugee Week

The Pride Cymru parade is one of Cardiff’s most colourful events and I’m excited that this year we are working with the Students’ Union to take part in the parade on 22 June. Please come and join us! Take a look at what else is going on for Pride Month.

I am proud that we are a University of Sanctuary, recognising our work to welcome, support and empower people seeking sanctuary. For World Refugee Week the VOICES Network are partnering with us to host a vibrant cultural celebration at the Centre for Student Life on 14 June. All welcome – register to attend.

Here to help

As always, support is available if you need it by contacting Student Connect or your personal tutor. If you are struggling, or worried about anything, we have self-help resources and counselling and wellbeing appointments available as well as specialist support and a safe, non-judgmental space to listen.

Thank you again for all your hard work and commitment this academic year. Whether you are continuing your studies or embarking on a new chapter, I wish you all the very best. Have a wonderful and restful summer break.

Best wishes,
Claire
