Hello student,

I hope your first semester has been enjoyable.

Before the Christmas break arrives, I wanted to thank you all for your feedback on the University and/or your programme, and to remind you how important your feedback is to us.

Every year, your Students’ Union writes a ‘Student View’, which tells us what your priorities are for the year ahead. This year’s Student View covers academic topics like assessment and feedback, but also new areas such as housing and artificial intelligence. It also tells us we need to do more with your feedback when thinking about new buildings and facilities.

In the meantime, I am pleased to say that we have made good progress in responding to your feedback from last year’s Student View (2022/23). A few examples include:

A huge amount is being done behind the scenes to listen to your student voice and ensure it is valued and acted upon. As well as changes across the university, you can also see how your school is changing based on your feedback.

The Christmas break

We’ve pulled together a full round up of festive events for you, and if you’re in Cardiff over the break (18 December – 7 January 2024) keep checking as more will be added. If you need support or someone to talk to during this time, we’re still here to help. You can contact Student Connect or visit us in the Centre for Student Life.

The university will be closed from Saturday 23 December 2023, re-opening Tuesday 2 January 2024.  When The Centre for Student Life is closed from 23 December – 2 January, you can still get help online.

Wishing you an enjoyable and safe Christmas break and a very Happy New Year. See you in 2024!

Best wishes,

Claire
