Take part in The Big Conversation
30 October 2023Read a message from Claire Morgan, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Education and Student Experience sent to students on 30 October.
Hello,
Listening to your views is central to my role as your Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience and is vital to the ongoing success of our university.
It’s only by giving us your feedback that we can continue to improve your student experience and become the university that you want us to be.
We value your feedback and we have lots of examples to show how we’ve already changed your university based on your feedback, including:
- extending the opening hours in your Centre for Student Life, so it is now open until 22.00 on weekdays, and 20.00 at the weekend
- new floodlit all-weather pitches at our Llanrumney sports complex
- a new social study space for students at our Heath Park campus, alongside improved common rooms for students in the schools of Chemistry and Modern Languages.
Y Sgwrs Fawr/ The Big Conversation
To continue this work, today we’re launching Y Sgwrs Fawr/ The Big Conversation. It begins with SU President Angie Flores Acuna and our new Vice- Chancellor Professor Wendy Larner sitting down together on Tuesday 31 October at the Students’ Union to talk about the issues that matter most. Register now to join the discussion (refreshments available). We are then asking all students to complete a short survey, telling us what kind of university you want us to become. Completing the survey puts you in to a prize draw to win one of 10 £100 vouchers. We look forward to hearing your views and making sure they shape the next strategic plan of the university.
Black History Month mural
Make sure you take a look at Flora: A Tribute to Sisterhood and Black Women on the sports centre, Senghenydd Road. The 14-metre-high mural was commissioned by the university and designed by Unify as part of our celebrations for this year’s Black History Month.
And finally: student life can be full of new experiences, challenges and opportunities. If you need any support, please make sure that you get in touch with Student Connect in the Centre for Student Life. The quickest way to contact the team is via the Student Connect portal on the intranet.
I hope the term is going smoothly for all of you and I look forward to writing to you next month
Best wishes
Claire
