  • It was noted that the VJ Gallery would be transformed during the week to provide a creative space.  This, the Vertical Studio project, is a joint collaboration between Creative Cardiff and students in the School of Architecture.
  • UEB received the University’s Prevent policy and action plan.  A number of revisions were agreed, these would be incorporated and the paper would then be presented to Council on 23 May 2016.
  • UEB received a paper recommending that the University should sign the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant.  It was agreed to sign the Ministry of Defence template once it had been appropriately amended to reflect the University’s activities and commitments.
  • UEB received the draft Widening Participation strategy.  It was agreed, that subject to some minor changes, to approve the draft Widening Participation strategy and associated papers for consideration by ASQC on 18 May 2016.
  • UEB received an update on the European structural funds at Cardiff.  It was agreed to approve the acceptance of the ERDF revenue award for ASTUTE2020 Advanced Sustainable Manufacturing Technologies, the ESF revenue award for KESS II Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships and GO Wales Achieve through Work Experience Programme 2016-19.
  • UEB received an update on the investment in the Academic Information Resources budget over the past five years and details of the positive impact following this investment.
  • UEB received a briefing paper on 2016 National Assembly for Wales Election Manifestos – Overview of Key Policies Relating to universities.
