  • UEB received a presentation from Adam Cairns, Chief Executive of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, outlining their new strategic blueprint, Health Enterprise Alliance for Regional Transformation (HEART).
  • Under matters arising the School of Biosciences proposal E-Learning and E-Assessment Facility (E-leaf) was discussed. It was noted that Estates do not have capacity to undertake the work this academic year but would look to schedule Christmas 2016, subject to funding being available.
  • The success of the recent World Half Marathon held in Cardiff was noted and the fundraising efforts already underway in relation to the Cardiff Half Marathon in October 2016.
  • Professor de Leeuw’s recent visit to Malaysia and China and opportunities for further working with a number of institutions were noted.
  • UEB received a paper articulating how to get a capital programme/minor works approved. It was agreed that this process, together with a set of FAQs, would be posted on the intranet.
  • UEB received a paper on the University’s research leave scheme.
  • It was noted that the University had received HEFCW’s headline steers for 2016/17 funding allocations. The HEFCW funding adjustments would see a loss of some income for Cardiff which had already been factored into the forecasts.
