Cardiff Futures

5 November 2014

Since joining Cardiff University I have been struck by the amount of time and effort put into staff development. One of the many advantages of these programmes is the opportunity to meet colleagues from across the University. This was certainly the case at the Cardiff Futures evening dinner on Wednesday 5th November. Cardiff Futures was set up by the Vice-Chancellor on his arrival at Cardiff and is an opportunity for academic staff to develop their careers and to discover and explore how they might contribute to shaping the future of Cardiff University. The evening dinners enable participants to get to know each other better and are attended by UEB members. I particularly enjoyed the policy of circulating UEB members across different tables. It meant that I met an extraordinary range of people, from a philosopher/mountaineer to an entrepreneurial physicist. I have subsequently been sent a number of invitations via Linked In and look forward to attending future events.
