We invite anyone who has an interest in research at Cardiff and so it\u2019s also a great opportunity to meet and network with other staff from your college and further afield!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Programme content <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Session 1:<\/strong> <strong>Welcome and Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The event was opened by our Dean of Research Environment and Culture, Prof Karin Wahl-Jorgensen. Prof Wahl-Jorgensen chairs the Researcher Pathways Working Group which coordinates the activity taking place as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/research\/our-research-environment\/supporting-researchers\/hr-excellence-in-research-award\">Researcher Development Concordat Action Plan<\/a>. These events are part of Cardiff University\u2019s commitment to support research staff and their careers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Session 2: The Researcher Showcase<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Researcher Showcase theme was <strong>\u2018Co-creating research with user communities and interdisciplinary colleagues\u2019<\/strong>. The panel, made up of the College Deans of Research (Prof Claire Gorrara, AHSS; Prof Kerry Hood, BLS; Prof Carrie Lear, PSE), selected 5 excellent speakers to present their work (see below):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Aurora Goodwin (School of Healthcare Sciences)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Engaging user communities in the development of WISH: the Workforce Insights Survey for Health.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.cardiff.ac.uk\/staff\/gruberm\"><strong>Matthias Gruber<\/strong><\/a><strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.cardiff.ac.uk\/staff\/odonoghuee1\">Ellen O&#8217;Donoghue<\/a> (School of Psychology)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How curiosity affects learning and memory \u2013 a co-production approach.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.cardiff.ac.uk\/staff\/haler3\"><strong>Rachel Hale<\/strong><\/a><strong> (School of Social Sciences)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Co-creating air quality citizen science with diverse communities and interdisciplinary colleagues (<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/the-cardiff-researcher\/the-researcher-community-showcase-co-creating-research-with-user-communities-and-interdisciplinary-colleagues-dr-rachel-hale\/\">Blog<\/a>)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.cardiff.ac.uk\/staff\/thomask30\"><strong>Kai Thomas<\/strong><\/a><strong> (School of Psychology)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Co-creating research with user communities and interdisciplinary colleagues (<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/the-cardiff-researcher\/the-researcher-community-showcase-co-creating-eating-disorder-research-with-gender-diverse-autistic-and-adhd-communities-dr-kai-thomas\/\">Blog<\/a>)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.cardiff.ac.uk\/staff\/trowbridgeh\"><strong>Hayley Trowbridge<\/strong><\/a><strong> (SPARK)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Cathays Futures: Innovating approaches to knowledge mobilisation and co-production (<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/the-cardiff-researcher\/the-researcher-community-showcase-from-the-third-sector-to-academia-my-career-journey-as-a-participatory-researcher-dr-hayley-trowbridge\/\">Blog<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Session 3: Supporting Research Staff at Cardiff<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr Rhiannon Robinson (Organisational and Staff Development Officer for Research Staff) presented a summary of the Researcher Development Concordat process and some updates about progress against the commitments we\u2019ve made to improve the employment and support for researchers and their careers.<\/p>\n<p>The main aim of this event is to provide a platform for a 2-way conversation between the University and the research community. So, as part of this session, we invited a panel of representatives from research support, HR and researchers from each of the colleges: The panellists shared what they saw as the priorities from the action plan from their perspectives and then the conversation was opened up to the audience for comments and questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next year?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will be running this event again in Autumn 2025.
