SPARK 2018 – It’s Back and BIGGER Than Ever!

Pitch your business plan or your business’ growth strategy to win up to 20,000 in cash and support!

SPARK 2018 continues with your chance to share a prize pot of over £20,000 in cash and support!

The annual ideas competition for Cardiff University Students and Graduates started in November with the Ideas stage, where 12 entrepreneurial students with big ideas pitched for their share of £1000.

Our judges were amazed with the quality of the business ideas and were thrilled to offer Sam Stainton the top prize of £500 for HUE, a social enterprise working to end fuel poverty. Our other big winners were Joshua O’Hara with Squish and Benjamyn Land with Wellbeing First, each winning £250 to take their idea to the next stage.

The Next Stage?

Applications are now open for this year’s SPARK Plan and SPARK Venture!

Want to get your share of £20,000 of cash and support? Here’s what you need to know…

SPARK Plan is open to students with a business plan that they are ready to share with the world. The Plan level is designed for those who may have performed a reasonable level of research or possibly some level of testing for the idea or product. This can also include those that are getting ready to launch.

The SPARK Plan application guide can be found here

SPARK Venture is open to students that are looking for funding and support to grow their business. The Venture level is open to those already running businesses, projects, or even freelancing in the last 12 months to 2 years.

All applicants to SPARK Plan and Venture will be expected to present their idea to a panel of judges if shortlisted. Judging for this category will be done using both the online application and presentation to judges. Apply for SPARK here!
