LCRI Marine<\/a> is a collaboration of all the leading academic marine institutions in Wales. The project aims to enable, support and help\u00a0build a sustainable marine energy sector in Wales.\u00a0It provides the independent and world-class research essential to move the marine renewable energy industry forward.<\/p>\nThe project includes the development and application of tools which optimize the performance of the technology that recover energy from waves, tidal streams and tidal ranges around the Welsh coast.<\/p>\n
In particular, we consider the likely effects that these devices have on the environment, such as their effect on seabed communities,\u00a0sediment transport and\u00a0marine wildlife. More specifically, the part of the research\u00a0the HRC\u00a0are undertaking is to study the hydro-environmental impacts from the installation of marine renewable energy, in this particular case, from the proposed Severn Barrage.<\/p>\n
