About

Hi there! I’m a PhD research student in Cardiff School of Medicine. My research looks at the impact HIV PrEP has on rates of sexually transmitted infections and antibiotic resistance in gay and bisexual men in Wales.

Before this I studied my Masters in Health Psychology. This is where I started to become more aware of the massive health inequalities among sexual minorities a.k.a lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) individuals. From here I decided I wanted to conduct research into identifying the issues and developing strategies to reduce them.

A major part of this will be informing LGB individuals of these inequalities so they can hopefully make better health choices. There is a lot of research available about these health inequalities but often it is not told to the public. At least not in a way that is understandable.

Hence the need for this blog. To take that research and explain the findings in an understandable manner and in the context of real life.
