Dr Zaid Aboush
“The staff at the college of Engineering were so helpful, teachers were very knowledgeable and supportive, I shortly realised that my teachers are just like my friends, they endeavour to do their very best to put students on the right track. Having a knowledgeable teacher is essential because they make complex problems simple for students and hence allow students to absorb more information in less time (very efficient).
“The MSc course materials were diversified covering the basic principles as well as niche topics which are key in industry, and position the post-graduate at a good starting level. One of the niche topics which I was really excited about was the RF and Microwave module. In industry, this topic is usually described as a black magic or art where only people who understand it and have years of experience can get it to work and those are usually few. The good thing here is that the RF and microwave secrets are uncovered at Cardiff University due to the top in the field experts such as professors Adrian Porch, Paul Tasker, Johannes Benedict, and Dr. Jonathan Lees who know the topic inside out. I consider myself extremely lucky to work with such knowledgeable people who helped fulfil my eagerness to learn.
“The Cardiff University MSc degree strengthened my foundation through which I have been able to tap into any topic with confidence and the base skills needed.”
“As a result of his achievements during the MSc, Dr Zaid Aboush progressed to an industry-sponsored PhD in RF and Microwave engineering at the School. Following his PhD, he secured at position at a Cambridge-based company in the wireless communication sector where he was able to put his knowledge and skills to use and produce at least one patent per year.”
