{"id":892,"date":"2014-03-21T11:05:09","date_gmt":"2014-03-21T11:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/?p=892"},"modified":"2022-04-13T15:57:46","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T14:57:46","slug":"inspiring-science-workshop-ashby-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/2014\/03\/21\/inspiring-science-workshop-ashby-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Inspiring Science Workshop: Ashby School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week I visited <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ashbyschool.org.uk\">Ashby School<\/a> in Leicestershire, to deliver a workshop to local teachers\u00a0for as part of the Inspiring Science Education programme.<\/p>\n<p>The half-day workshop took place in the school&#8217;s &#8220;3D immersive hub&#8221;, which has 360 degree projection all around the room &#8211; an impressive facility. It allowed us to put <a href=\"http:\/\/stellarium.org\">Stellarium<\/a>, a freely available piece of planetarium software, all around the room. The other interactive displays also came in handy, providing an exciting and interesting way to use the resources.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The teachers, from four different local schools, used <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/resources\/star-in-a-box\/\">Star in a Box<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/resources\/chromoscope\/\">Chromoscope<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/herschel.cf.ac.uk\/activity\/multiwavelength\">Multiwavelength Universe<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/resources\/heavens-kitchen\/\">Heavens&#8217; Kitchen<\/a>.
