This is why the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/inspiring-science-education\/\">Inspiring Science Education<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/universe-in-the-classroom\/\">Universe in the Classroom<\/a> projects joined together on 3<sup>rd<\/sup> December to run parallel CPD sessions for primary and secondary teachers at the centre which is based in Machynlleth, Mid Wales.<\/p>\n<p>During the session nine attending primary teachers from local welsh schools across the country were given a variety of astronomy education tools to take back to their schools. These included a <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/universe-in-the-classroom\/universe-in-a-box\/\">Universe in a Box<\/a> hands-on toolkit, an Earth Ball,\u00a0several\u00a0activity books and access to the Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network (<a href=\"http:\/\/lcogt.net\/\">LCOGT<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Secondary teachers were introduced <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chromoscope.net\/\">Chromoscope<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/herschel.cf.ac.uk\/activity\/multiwavelength\">Multiwavelength Universe<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/resources\/star-in-a-box\/\">Star in a Box<\/a>, as well as software such as <a href=\"http:\/\/stellarium.org\/\">Stellarium<\/a>\u00a0(free) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vernier.com\/products\/software\/lp\/\">Logger Pro<\/a>\u00a0(free to members of Inspiring Science Education). <\/p>\n<figure class=\"Image pull-right\"><div id=\"attachment_1368\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" ><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2014\/12\/IMG_0005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1368 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2014\/12\/IMG_0005-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0005\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2014\/12\/IMG_0005-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2014\/12\/IMG_0005-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/physicsoutreach\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/236\/2014\/12\/IMG_0005-624x467.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">View of Machynlleth, Mid Wales<\/p><\/div><\/figure>\n<p>All attending teachers and educators were also provided with an introduction to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.schoolsobservatory.org.uk\/\">National Schools\u2019 Observatory<\/a>\u00a0from Dr Chris Leigh and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stemnet.org.uk\/topboxes\/stem-ambassadors\/\">STEM Ambassador<\/a> project from Heather Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The sessions were well attended and the location of the venue not only provided an opportunity for schools from the rural areas across Mid Wales to attend, but it also\u00a0reminded us just how stunning the welsh countryside can be!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inspire, Inform, Enable.
