Kids demonstrate a scale model of the Solar System<\/p><\/div><\/figure>\n

A STARS workshop yesterday managed to reach an entire primary school in Newport \u2014 in just one day!<\/p>\n

Two of our Physics undergraduates spent the day at Monnow School getting kids excited about science, and also training year 5 pupils to use Universe-in-a-Box to teach astronomy to the rest of the school!<\/p>\n

The teachers of Monnow Primary came up with the idea of training older pupils to teach the younger school and our STARS, Nicholas Jones and Zoe Ballard helped them to implement their super-efficient scheme.<\/p>\n

The innovative new scheme helps Universe in the Classroom to maximise our reach and inspire many more children with the wonders of the cosmos; with the added benefit of teaching the school\u2019s older pupils valuable communication and presentation skills.<\/p>\n

Launching water rockets<\/p><\/div><\/figure>\n

The STARS workshop was centred on the topic of gravity, and taught pupils the effects of gravity on Earth and different worlds and how we can escape it. Nicholas and Zoe managed to slot in the ever-exciting topics of human missions to space and rockets, ending the workshop with a water-rocket launching activity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
