Join Our Online Summer Schools!

For the fourth year, Cardiff University School of Physics and Astronomy are running a summer school for AS level students interested in studying Physics at University. This year, the summer school will run from Monday 10th August to Friday 28th August 2020.

We are excited to announce that the summer school will take place online via the learning experience platform, Aula. Aula brings students, staff, and educators together in a digital environment that encourages interaction and collaboration.

As in previous years, the summer school will give year 12 students a taste of Physics and Astronomy at Cardiff University through talks, activities and Q&As with staff and students and will cover topics such as:

  • Astronomy and Cosmology
  • Medical Physics
  • Physics Careers

There will be a maximum of 6 hours work each week which will be a mixture of individual tasks to be completed at students’ own pace and collaborative tasks with other attendees. An example weekly timetable looks like:

Note: All times are when videos are released, but students can also attend asynchronously. Zoom webinars will be recorded and made available to attendees through Aula.

If you are interested, please apply using this application form by midnight Sunday 2nd August.

Please note:

  • In the case of over subscription places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
  • Attendees to the summer school will require access to the internet. The Aula platform is available both in browser and as an app, but the user experience may be optimal on a laptop or desktop computer.

The above application form is for the AS Level Summer School which is for students in Year 12. This is distinct to our offer holder summer school which is for those who hold an offer to study at the university in Sept 2020. Please ensure that you are applying for the correct summer school.
