In October 2017 the School of Pharmacy’s Pharambees team raised awareness of their project – looking at the anti-microbial properties of honey – by projecting a live video feed of their rooftop honeybees on to the side of the Redwood Building.
The videos were staged to coincide with the BeeWell Conference that took place in the university earlier that day. The BeeWell Project is a networking event where organisations from across Cardiff come together to cross-pollinate ideas and share best practice.
For the bee videos, which were projected for three and a half hours, the Pharmabees team collaborated with Glenn Davidson of Art Station, a Cardiff-based arts and media company. The bees were filmed behind a plate of glass inside one of their hives, and were unharmed during the process.
