1 minute silence for victims21 October 2016
Peace be upon you,
21st October marks the birth of my Cardiff university blog and it also marks the 50th Anniversary of the Aberfan disaster. On the 21 October 1966 “a mount of coal waste slid down into a school and houses in the welsh village, killing 144 people, including 116 children.” Wales’ First Minister Carwyn Jones, rightly stated that “remembrance is important so future generations understand what happened in Aberfan…It is a truly heart-breaking moment in our history and no-one who learns about the disaster can fail to be profoundly moved by it.”
Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. Those who lost their lives will remain alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on.
