{"id":177,"date":"2021-09-23T10:07:49","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T10:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/magma\/?p=177"},"modified":"2022-04-13T13:54:23","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T13:54:23","slug":"magma-at-the-international-workshop-on-one-and-two-dimensional-magnetic-measurement-and-testing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/magma\/magma-at-the-international-workshop-on-one-and-two-dimensional-magnetic-measurement-and-testing\/","title":{"rendered":"MAGMA at the International Workshop on One and Two Dimensional Magnetic Measurement and Testing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/2dm2021.com\/\">16th edition of the 1DM and 2DM international workshop<\/a> will be taking place 29th &#8211; 30th September 2021 virtually and the MAGMA team are going to have a big presence, so we thought this blog would be a good opportunity to have a deep dive into the event. The event is going to be hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ukmagsoc.org\/\">UK Magnetics Society<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two of our academic directors, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/people\/view\/364320-anderson-philip\">Dr Phil Anderson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/people\/view\/364378-hall-jeremy\">Dr Jeremy Hall<\/a>, will be acting as chairs for both days of the workshop, including running the question and answer panel sessions with the speakers at the end of each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of our academic researchers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/people\/view\/1719367-harrison-christopher\">Dr Chris Harrison<\/a>, will be speaking on the &#8216;<strong>Characterisation of Soft Magnetic Materials under Complex Magnetisation Conditions<\/strong>&#8216; during day one. He will also be chairing the day one workshop discussion on &#8216;<strong>Suitability of Measurements for Applications<\/strong>.&#8217; Our other academic researcher, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/people\/view\/2487977-liu-jun\">Dr Jun Liu<\/a>, will be hosting the workshop discussion on day two which will be focussed on &#8216;<strong>Relating Modelling to Material Complexity<\/strong>.&#8217; The hope is that these discussions will help build towards the programme for the in-person event taking place next year (more on that later). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other speakers at the event come from across industry and academia, please check the <a href=\"https:\/\/2dm2021.com\/?page_id=120\">full event programme<\/a> for further details. The evening of the first day will have the opportunity for some informal networking with a whisky and non-alcoholic spirit tasting session. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As mentioned earlier, the discussions in this year&#8217;s event are intended to inform the programme for the <a href=\"https:\/\/2dm2022.com\/\">2022 event<\/a>. This is currently planned to be an in person event finally taking place in Cardiff (this was originally planned for 2020).
