The changes are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Previous guidance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>In your references list, if the source has <strong>more than two authors<\/strong> use the abbreviation <strong>et al.<\/strong> after the first author\u2019s last name and initials.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New guidance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>In your references list, if the source has <strong>more than seven authors <\/strong>use the abbreviation <strong>et al. <\/strong>after the first author\u2019s last name and initials.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find more infomation at our updated Cardiff Harvard referencing tutorial here: <a href=\"https:\/\/xerte.cardiff.ac.uk\/play_4191#page1\">https:\/\/xerte.cardiff.ac.uk\/play_4191#page1<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2021\/08\/Harvard-example.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2021\/08\/Harvard-example.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2171\" width=\"577\" height=\"488\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This amendment <strong>only affects items listed in reference\/lists and bibliographies<\/strong>. <strong>There is no change to the current advice for in-text citations<\/strong>.<strong> <\/strong>This continues to require the use of et al. where there are <strong>more than two authors<\/strong> of a source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All downloadable reference manager (<em>EndNote<\/em>, <em>Mendeley<\/em>, <em>Zotero<\/em>) styles will be updated. If you have previously downloaded the Cardiff Harvard style you will need to download the new style.
