The competition challenges both current and past PhD students to create a tweet summarising in 140 characters or less why their PhD research is important.<\/p>\n<p>The competition is open PhD students worldwide and from all subject areas.<\/p>\n<p>There will be prizes for the first, second and third placed entrants \u2013 the first prize is a 15 inch MacBook Pro.<\/p>\n<p>Competition entrants must tweet their message using the hashtag #ShareMyThesis by February\u00a09th 2015 at 10.00.<\/p>\n<p>A judging panel will then select the eight top tweets and these shortlisted entrants will be asked to write a short article (up to 600 words) elaborating on their tweet and explaining why their PhD research is important.<\/p>\n<p>The judging panel will then select a winner and two runners up by March\u00a020th 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The British Library is the home of the <a href=\"http:\/\/ethos.bl.uk\">EThOS<\/a> service for UK PhD theses &#8211; over 140,000 theses are freely available to download for your research and a further 200,000 are available for scanning on demand.<\/p>\n<p>For more details, and the competition\u2019s terms and conditions, visit the British Library\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bl.uk\/share-my-thesis\/\">competition web page<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The British Library has launched a new competition called #ShareMyThesis.
