{"id":121,"date":"2013-02-08T14:12:29","date_gmt":"2013-02-08T14:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.cf.ac.uk\/library\/trial-of-medical-ebooks-from-thieme\/"},"modified":"2022-04-13T09:31:31","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T08:31:31","slug":"trial-of-medical-ebooks-from-thieme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/library\/trial-of-medical-ebooks-from-thieme\/","title":{"rendered":"Trial of Medical ebooks from Thieme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cardiff University has access to\u00a0a trial of medical textbooks available online from the publisher Thieme until March 31st.<\/p>\n<p>The Thieme E-Book Library offers unlimited concurrent online access to a collection of fully downloadable medical textbooks, comprising of anatomy, basic sciences, clinical sciences and radiology textbooks.<\/p>\n<p>It currently contains<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>69 full-color textbooks, which users can download to view, annotate, and print off-line<\/p>\n<p>You can access the collection by\u00a0going here:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ebooks.thieme.com\/bookshelf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/ebooks.thieme.com\/bookshelf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In order to download Thieme E-Book Library books to your iPad, you will need to download and install the iPublishCentral Reader App first. This can be done in two ways (via the platform or via the iPad app store):<\/p>\n<p>From the Thieme E-Book Library platform (<a href=\"http:\/\/ebooks.thieme.com\/bookshelf\">http:\/\/ebooks.thieme.com\/bookshelf<\/a>) access your first title and click on the iPublishCentral Reader link to install the app<\/p>\n<p>or<\/p>\n<p>Browse the AppStore on your iPad (search for &#8220;iPublishCentral Reader&#8221;).<br \/>\nAlternatively you can download the app on a desktop via an iTunes account and sync with the iPad.<br \/>\nThe app is free; your Apple\/iTunes account will not be charged.<\/p>\n<p>From within the university wireless network launch your iPad browser<br \/>\n(note:\u00a0they currently support Safari browser only) and navigate to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ebooks.thieme.com\/bookshelf\">http:\/\/ebooks.thieme.com\/bookshelf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the opening page, you will find the list of titles provided in the library.<br \/>\nBrowse to a title of interest and click on the Download link . This will take you to the Download page.<br \/>\nAs an iPad user you will see a download icon for the iPad.
