Dear LEDS peeps,
We are looking forward to getting together next week for the first time in 2019, on Wednesday 6th February. Our session will run from 4.30-5.30pm (with optional discussion continuing until 6pm) in Room 2.46, John Percival Building, Cardiff University Colum Drive campus (note that this is a different room from last term’s meetings).
For this upcoming session, Dr Beverley Hill from Swansea University has kindly agreed to facilitate an informal discussion reflecting on her recent study looking at the portrayal of British (class) culture in film. The discussion will explore conceptions of, and connections between, culture (a key focus of ethnographers), identity, and language, and Beverley will be sharing with us how she approached these connections by drawing on film as a cultural artefact. Follow the link to read an abstract of Beverley’s study: Beverley Hill – Language, culture and social difference – LEDS 6 February 2019.
We look forward to seeing you all next week, when we will also be sharing some exciting updates regarding the schedule for this semester’s LEDS gatherings!
