Make a list of what you need to stay focused. Stick to your list, or you will end up overspending.

Explore New Ingredients: Don’t be afraid to try new spices or ingredients. Ask the store staff for recommendations if you’re unsure.

Check Freshness: Since a lot of products are imported in bulk, make sure to check the expiry date before purchasing. When buying fresh produce or spices, check for freshness and quality to ensure you’re getting the best products.

Bulk Buying: Buying 5kg rice from an Indian that will last you a few weeks is much cheaper than buying 1kg rice from Lidl or Tesco every few days. Consider buying in bulk for items you use frequently, like rice and lentils, to save money in the long run.

Ask for Help: If you’re unfamiliar with certain products or need advice on recipes, don’t hesitate to ask the store staff. They are usually very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

Exploring these Indian stores not only helps satisfy your cravings but also supports local businesses.
