Cardiff is such a friendly and vibrant city and the home of many relaxing parks. From large fields to stunning trees and wildlife, Cardiff has it all. This is definitely one of my favourite aspects about Cardiff. It is the perfect mix between lively and calming.<\/p>\n

If you are like me and enjoy walking in nature, then you will love these six green spaces!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Bute Park<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Bute Park<\/a> is the largest park in Cardiff, located right behind Cardiff Castle<\/a>. Besides being cycle-friendly, it is also the perfect place to visit if you love going for a walk or run.<\/p>\n

It often has events such as food festivals or concerts that take up a whole field. On sunny days, I love organising picnics with friends and finding the perfect spot to enjoy eating yummy food, talking, or playing games.<\/p>\n

Next time you go to Bute Park, count how many ducks and squirrels you can spot! You might be surprised to see how many there are.<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

Sophia Gardens<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As you cross a bridge from Bute Park, you get to Sophia Gardens<\/a>. There is a path that stretches along the River Taff, passing a sports stadium and a few massive fields. You would usually see people walking their dogs or playing different sports.<\/p>\n

After around one kilometre, you get to another bridge<\/a> that takes you back to Bute Park, in an area that looks like a forest. You can also choose to walk through Pontcanna Fields<\/a> and, in winter, even catch the sun setting behind the trees.<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

Alexandra Gardens<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you have previously seen pictures from Cardiff University, Alexandra Gardens<\/a> was most likely featured. It is located behind the Main University Building<\/a> and within walking distance of Bute Park.<\/p>\n

During spring and autumn, it becomes one of Cardiff\u2019s main attractions. As soon as the cherry blossom trees bloom, that is your cue to start visiting the gardens more often. They are in full bloom around April, making it the perfect time for taking fabulous pictures.<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

Gorsedd Gardens<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Gorsedd Gardens<\/a> is a small green area in front of the National Museum Cardiff<\/a>. It is a lovely place to walk through if you are heading to the Students\u2019 Union<\/a> or the city centre. During springtime, you will see colourful flowers and even daffodils in March!<\/p>\n

In winter, the space right next to the gardens becomes the magical Winter Wonderland<\/a>. Here you can walk around, savour a hot drink, or enjoy a fun ride in one of the attractions. It tends to become busy as it gets closer to Christmas but is also a fantastic atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Roath Park<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Roath Park<\/a> is known for two features: the lighthouse on the lake and its wildlife. The lighthouse<\/a> has kept its reputation as an iconic landmark for the park for over 100 years and continues to be photographed by visitors.<\/p>\n

You cannot miss all the swans, ducks and geese swimming or even walking along the lake when you go there. You can even walk around the lake and stop for ice cream when it is warm outside. Close to the lake, you can also find a beautiful rose garden<\/a> you can explore.<\/p>\n

Cefn Onn Park <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Located on the northern side of Cardiff, Cefn Onn<\/a> is a stunning park, not many people know of. Although it is further than others, there is a train station just five minutes away from the entrance.<\/p>\n

If you love nature, this is the perfect park for you. I find going for a walk in Cefn Onn very relaxing. The only sounds you hear, from birds, the wind, and water, will make you feel like you are in a forest. It is unlike other parks in Cardiff because of all the eye-catching trees and flowers, as well as the calm atmosphere.<\/p>\n

If you are thinking of creating a “Cardiff bucket list”, add these parks on it too! They are worth a visit.<\/p>\n
